REDUCING INFLATION THROUGH INVESTMENT AND OPPORTUNITY
Jimmy is working to ease inflation by supporting our diverse economy of agriculture, tourism, technology, education, research, and small businesses. In Congress, he is working to lower the prices at grocery stores and gas stations with federal investment in our roads, rail, research, manufacturing, broadband, and water systems. He is committed to ensuring access to affordable Pre-K and higher education. He also is working to strengthen our local economy and support working families by expanding child care, achieving equal pay for women, protecting workers’ wages, rights, and safety, and helping small businesses invest and grow.
Environmet
PROTECTING OUR COASTAL ENVIRONMENT
AND PREVENTING WILDFIRES
Jimmy always will fight to protect the unique and pristine environment of the 19th Congressional District. He has been an environmental leader in Congress by authoring and passing bills to ensure clean air and water, block oil drilling off our precious coastline and on public lands, cut critical carbon emissions, promote sustainability, invest in clean energy technology, and find meaningful solutions to our climate crisis. Due to the constant threat of wildfires in California, Jimmy also has led by writing and passing bills to invest in wildfire prevention, reforestation, and more forest service personnel.
Housing
HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS
Jimmy continues to work hard for more affordable housing. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, Jimmy authored and supported legislation expanding federal tax credits to build more low-income and middle-income housing, support first-time homebuyers and renters, and help to put more homes on the market. He continues to secure millions in federal grants for housing programs for veterans, low-income families, and homeless individuals. He obtained significant funding for renters and landlords during the pandemic, and will continue to fight for people to have a safe and affordable place to call home.
Healthcare
AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE HEALTHCARE
Jimmy is fighting to make health care affordable and accessible for all. He fought against efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and voted to improve its service and availability in the 19th Congressional District. Jimmy supports universal health care and passed legislation to provide emergency assistance to nursing homes. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, he worked on legislation to expand Medicare and lower prescription drug prices for seniors, and continues to fight to protect a woman’s right to choose her own reproductive healthcare.
Democracy
STRENGTHENING OUR DEMOCRACY
Jimmy works every day to fortify the United States against threats both foreign and domestic. He supports our national security with investments in our local military installations. Jimmy believes that it is the responsibility of Congress to revitalize our system of checks and balances, strengthen the rule of law, and fortify our democratic institutions. Jimmy is working to pass legislation to deter presidential abuses of power, insulate our elections from illicit interference, and ensure every American’s
right to vote.
